Talent helps, but persistence is the key. When I was a kid I played and always beat myself up because I couldn’t hang with anybody… I distinctly remember being worthless.
I’m not even an athlete, but still tend to kick ass in league play today. There are MANY people at my company that love soccer, and I happened to join up and get back into it… and I somehow fell into being a pretty good player. There’s nothing special you can do, but if you love it, it will pay off.
